Dubai’s sales can represent up to 60 percent of some brands’ regional revenues. The emirate is also considered as the regional hub for luxury clothing and accessories, premium automobiles and high-end real estate. With rising rents, increasing costs of living and growing infrastructure, coupled with indirect taxation and new taxes, pressure on cost has become enormous. Brands and retailers need to either reduce their margins or accept higher prices in the emirate. Is Dubai going to lose its position as the shopping paradise?
