Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard (58) is a Global CEO and Brand Equity Specialist with over 30 years’ experience in consumer goods and retail, including 20 years in luxury goods.
Since early 2011, he has been CEO of the 140-year-old Oettinger Davidoff AG, a world leader in premium handmade cigars with sales of over CHF 600 million, and since May 2014 also Member of the Board. Based in Basle, Switzerland, he leads 3,500 people across the globe in a vertically integrated “crop-to-shop” operation – from the tobacco fields in the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua to the 70+ Davidoff Flagship Stores in the most sought-after retail locations worldwide, including the original Davidoff store in Geneva, to Madison Avenue in New York and the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong.
At Davidoff, Mr. Hoejsgaard is driving a transformation from a product-focused to a brand and experience-led global company. He is leading Davidoff through an ambitious phase of brand renewal, growth, retail expansion, farmland acquisitions and a new direction, including spearheading the new global partnership with Art Basel and the launch of the Davidoff Art Initiative.
Mr. Hoejsgaard has been a Member of the Board of publicly listed Calida Group in Switzerland since 2014, and in 2015 he joined the Board of the New York-based non-profit organization, Art in General.
Previously, he was President and CEO of Timex Corporation, based in Connecticut, USA, as well as of Georg Jensen Ltd., based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He also served as president of Parisbased Lancaster Group Worldwide, a division of Coty Inc. Prior to that, he was Managing Director Asia Pacific of Guerlain, based in Hong Kong, and before this held senior management positions at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons in Rome, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
Mr. Hoejsgaard served on the Advisory Board of the Master of Experience Management education at the University of Roskilde in Denmark, and is co-author of the book, “Experience Leadership in Practice” (2010).
An accomplished public speaker, Mr. Hoejsgaard has given numerous talks around the world at key industry events and business summits as well as Leadership lectures at colleges. He has appeared regularly on television cable networks across the globe, including CNN, CNBC, Fox Business News and Bloomberg.
Mr. Hoejsgaard studied political science at the University of Copenhagen, and holds an H.D. Diploma in economics from the Southern Denmark Business School. He has completed advanced management studies at Harvard Business School, INSEAD and Wharton.
Mr. Hoejsgaard, a Danish national, resides in Switzerland with his English wife Amanda, while their two children, Alice and Maxime, live in London, UK.
