Marcus Freeman was qualified as an ICAEW chartered accountant in 1993 whilst working for Coopers & Lybrand in theUK. Prior to joining the Chalhoub Group, Marcus was in charge of financial control for the Retail Division of the LVMH Group (DFS, Sephora Europe and USA, Le Bon Marché, e-luxury.com…) reporting directly to LVMH’s Divisional President and was based in Paris. Before that he was Senior Financial Controller for Moët & Chandon. As the Chalhoub Group CFO, Marcus reports to the co-CEOs and is in charge of the finance and accounting competence centres of the Group. He is responsible for all financial and accounting policies of the Group, ensuring robust internal control and timely and pertinent analysis (activity, projects) as well as the development of finance and accounting talent throughout the Group (over 200 professionals). Marcus is also actively involved in strategy formulation and the Group Merger & Acquisition activities. His central team is divided into: Financial Analysis, Group Accounting, Group Treasury, Group Consolidation, M&A and Strategy. He also looks after internal audit which is out-sourced. In 2012, Marcus followed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
